https://youtu.be/RYqbqnE0Ax8  We made small changes to our film opening. The first change we made was the volume level in the scene where we all entered through the gates. The comments people made were that the volume was too loud, so we decreased the volume. The scene after was a little quiet, so we increased the volume. The next change we made was changing the title from "ONE YEAR LATER" to "ONE WEEK LATER" so that the film makes a little more sense. The last change we made was cropping the ending title/black screen and music.

This week we mostly focused on editing sound and adding sound to what we edited in the first week.  We left only a little non-diegetic sound in the beginning, but added eerie music to the killing scene.  The same transitions are being used, like the black sudden screens, but now we are going to add more film to create quicker transitions.  Our biggest problem this week is our film we gathered. While editing, we realized that the killing scene does not look as real as we wished. So next week we plan to re-film the scene and add a prop, like a big fake knife. This will give the scene more realistic features.  The same video and sound effects are being used. We did not spend as much time editing this week, since we need to focus on more filming, but overall we had a good week of editing. 

The first week of editing went really well. We worked together to choose which fonts to use for our film and decided to use something basic, but also looks like it can be featured in horror movies. The title has not been decided yet, but our "ONE YEAR LATER" title has that font. Our group might not use video effects so we can keep the film realistic, but we definitely will continue to use sound effects, like loud bangs or screams to keep the horror element. The only sound we have so far is non-diegetic sound of Donte walking. Next week we plan to add eerie music and mysterious bangs. The transition we chose to use was a plain black screen that gradually transitions faster as the scenes become more intense. Each transition has music going through it and we are deciding whether or not to use loud bangs as well. This kind of transition is used in many horror films. In this shot, we tried to create lighting that seems mysterious to match our  plot. Here we have the hallway leading down to a darkness and a human figure standing in the middle.  In this shot, Donte is shown on the phone calling his other friends when they find the object that belongs to his friend who died there. He tried to look scared to create suspense.  In this last shot, Chris is taking a close up shot of the object left on the ground. Once we start filming the real opening, the object will be a bracelet.  This week did not have many issues, we just need to get the correct props once we finish our rough draft filming. My favorite shot to take was the hallway scene because it creates an eerie feeling for the audience. I am confident in how this opening is going to come together. 

In this picture, we were trying to make a shot looking like we were fleeing the mysterious scene.  In this picture, Donte, Chris, and Trent are standing around the object that has been mysteriously left where their friend had died.  Here shows Miranda tripping over an object acting like a booby trap, while Chris records a close-up of the scene. Donte directs the scene in the back.  Here Trent is recording Chris, trying to get a good angle.  In this last one, Chris is shown on the ground after falling while running away. Trent records while Donte takes pictures of the dramatic scene. The difficulties that we faced was coming up with a well planned booby trap and having enough people to record. So far out opening scene plot can work out well and I'm excited to continue filming! 

This week we are getting ready to start filming. We talked together about the following elements:  actors,  Trent, Donte, and Chris costumes,  The costumes we plan on wearing is our normal clothes but if may come down a special costume set for the antagonist. props,  The props we plan to use is our cell phones and a bloody ring. locations,  The location will be at school. dates and tim es,  The date and time we plan to record may be throughout the next two weeks in first period. scripts, We have yet to write an actual script, but we do have a story board.  and film equipment.  We plan on using the school equipment to record and computers to edit .

Although I was absent while my group constructed the storyboard and had a group discussion, this storyboard represents our film opening that we will be forming as a group. We decided to form a film opening that could later be transformed into an entire movie based off of the action genre with aspects of the mystery genre as well. The plot of this opening is similar to the film "Until Dawn". The characters in this opening are constantly running or doing something to keep the audience engaged. As you can see in the storyboard it is an action film, but we will work to incorporate mystery in the opening as well.

After watching all the sample film openings, I singled out five specific examples. Rise Immediately when the film opening starts, big texted titles appeared with cast members involved. Many closeups and different types of shots. The shots were perfectly fit with the background music to get the audience's attention. The topic was very clear: soccer. As the characters were brought in, some sort of "conflict" seemed to be present. This makes the audience wonder.  Dear Lover The mood and tone of the film was clear because of the setting and scenery, mostly focusing on the emotion. Along with the cast members, a music title was shown for the song being used. Lots of different shots were used to connect with the gloomy feeling. Voice overs and flashbacks were used as well.       An action film is defined as a film genre in which the protagonist or protagonists are thrust into a series of challenges that typically include violence, extended fighting, physical feats, and frantic chases. Action films tend to have a hero chasing after a villain or chasing after victory. Watching action movies have always made me feel as if I am in the movie itself and all the elements in a movie filled with action keeps me engaged and makes me want to see more.       To begin, I chose to create a film opening with action as the genre. I have many favorite action movies but my first favorite would have to be Taken, starring Liam Neeson. This movie inspired me to choose this genre because it is a fast paced and thrilling movie with lots of constant action. The famous movie is about a former government operative, who has certain skills that not an ordinary person has. His daughter gets abducted from him while she is away in Paris for vacation. Brya...

     Elements are very important to create a successful film. In the provided clip, many elements were used within the short amount of time.      To begin, there are 5 master shots in film: Parallelism, Contrast, Symbolism, Simultaneity, and Leit Motiff.  The short clip from Agent Carter starts out with Steve flying straight down from the sky, while Peggy watches him in distress. Switching back from Peggy begging Steve to land safely, to Steve begging her to not worry because he has to do what he has to do, can be considered an example of simultaneity. Simultaneity is a technique in editing where the camera cuts from one action to another to show relation between the two. Steve, knowing his landing is going to be dangerous, puts a picture of Peggy in front of him just before he goes down. Later on in the clip, Peggy is at the agency and opens up her drawer to find a framed picture of Steve. This is an example of both parallelism and symbolism. Parall...

I chose to watch The Phantom of the Opera to point out the four general mise-en-scenes. Lighting: The film starts out in black and white, which symbolizes their older age after the opera life. In the auction for material from the opera, as the chandelier is being lifted up, the lighting changes to color and everything become brighter. This resembles their young age. Another example of lighting was the scene in which the phantom took Christine under the opera. The use of low-key lighting created suspense and wonder.  Costuming:  Throughout the whole film, the most important use of costume is the phantom's mask. It establishes his character. Since this movie is a musical, the use of costumes is very important. From their performances for Hannibal wearing very colorful and large dresses, to their simple nightgowns, I would consider costuming to be the greatest mise-en-scene. By adding music in the last edit, it creates humor and understanding of what leit motif is. In my symbolism edit, I added Ms. Keegan explaining that we must wear our badges. I added gasps and a "wow" sound effect in my contrast edit, which is non-diegetic, as crowd reactions. Whistling in my simultaneity edit shows that Donte is going somewhere casually but then gets yelled at by a teacher. (sound added). My last edit with added sound was parallelism, where Donte is shown walking. I added a sound effect of someone walking on carpet.
